2023 Toyota GR86 Review in USA-Toyota and Subaru have teamed up to develop an affordable rear-wheel-drive sports car. The GR86 still has a Subaru-sourced boxer four-cylinder under the hood, but now displaces 2.4 liters instead of 2.0 liters. This larger engine produces 228 hp and 184 lb-ft, an improvement over the older model’s 205 hp and 156 lb-ft, and with that second figure available at just 3,700 rpm, the GR 86 is capable of accelerating under usual driving conditions. Like the first generation model, the GR86 came with a naturally aspirated horizontally opposed four-cylinder supplied by Subaru and acceleration was faster at 6.2 seconds to 60 mph from the previous generation, mated to a six-speed manual The GR86 continues to serve as the standard transmission, while a six-speed automatic is optional. Its interiors are clean and well made and have comfortable front seats, an intuitive infotainment system, and actually usable cargo space. Pop the hood of this car, and you’ll find a four-cylinder boxer engine with plenty of get-up-and-go muscle, and this car comes mated to a refined manual or automatic transmission.
